Session Topic: Mind Reading / Brain Machine Interface Speaker

چکیده
Can one create a machine that reads a person’s mind? We are familiar with such machines in science fictions, but it is only recently that scientists have seriously begun to discuss the possibility. The renewed interest in mind-reading has emerged from a number of recent scientific and technological advances in neuroscience. The approach of modern neuroscience toward mind-reading is to “decode” the activity of the brain, which is thought to “encode” the states of the mind.

Mind-Reading System - A Cutting-Edge Technology
In this paper, we describe a human-computer interface (HCI) system that includes an enabler for controlling gadgets based on signal analysis of brain activities transmitted from the enabler to the gadgets. The enabler is insertable in a user’s ear and includes a recorder that records brain signals. A processing unit of the system, which is inserted in a gadget, commands the gadget based on deco...

The goal of communication is delivery of the content of a message. Vocalizations carry a symbolic representation of a message from the mind of the speaker to a listener (human or machine) who must decode the representation. Machine-based speech interpreters have libraries of sound templates and word and grammar logic systems that assist in decoding a message. Human listeners have some additiona...
متن کاملMinimizing Calibration Time for Brain Reading
Machine learning is increasingly used to autonomously adapt brain-machine interfaces to user-specific brain patterns. In order to minimize the preparation time of the system, it is highly desirable to reduce the length of the calibration procedure, during which training data is acquired from the user, to a minimum. One recently proposed approach is to reuse models that have been trained in hist...
متن کاملA review on EEG based brain computer interface systems feature extraction methods
The brain – computer interface (BCI) provides a communicational channel between human and machine. Most of these systems are based on brain activities. Brain Computer-Interfacing is a methodology that provides a way for communication with the outside environment using the brain thoughts. The success of this methodology depends on the selection of methods to process the brain signals in each pha...
